Installation Guide of BeeSecure

Step by step tutorial

DIFFERENT WAYS TO INSTALL THE Anti-theft device

Below we have made a short guide that will help you with your first installation. We have thought of simple but effective solutions especially in terms of maintenance.

Prepare a handful of screws and a screw driver.
There are four possible ways, choose whichever way you prefer from the choices below.

NEST FRAME WITH RAISED BOTTOM

First you need to get a nest frame, we do not provide the frame.
The first step would be to remove the bottom piece of wood at the bottom of the frame.

Prepare the thin piece of wood that we provide (the piece on top)
In the image, the removed wood is the one with the holes.
You can see that the new piece that we provide on the right is slightly wider.
Install your device in a way that the battery is facing upwards.
The new piece of wood must perfectly close the wooden case containing the device so that the bees cannot access it and no honey gets inside that can short-circuit the device.
Now we can place the wooden case inside the nest frame.

Finally we fix the case laterally with screws.

In case of battery replacement, simply open the tray from above.
Done! Easy right?

Nest frame with a low case

Just like in the first option we use a nest frame.

We proceed in the same way, by removing the circles wooden part that is placed at the bottom.
For this second option we use a thinner wood for the cover of the tray, through which we do NOT to pass the wires of the wax.
It should be about half the thickness of the original one.
Let's attach the thin wooden piece we provide directly on the wooden case, with two screws so that it closes well without leaving any holes for the bees.
Let's insert the device from below so that the battery is
facing upwards.
The opening of the case in this option will be from below.
In this second case it will not be possible to attach the wires of the wax, having removed the bottom wooden piece.
We attach the case laterally with screws so that it adheres well to the frame.
You can also use two screws on each side for a better seal.

Case IN HONEYCOMB FRAME

For this option we used a super frame.

As in the previous cases, you must first remove the wooden part at the bottom.
In the image we look at the removed wooden strip below. We then get an additional piece that is longer but at the same time wider.
Let's instal the device.
It is important that the device is always installed so that the battery is facing upwards.
The new piece of wood must perfectly close the slot of the case containing the device so that the bees cannot access it and that honey inside that can short-circuit the device.
Now we can place the case we made inside the frame.

Finally we fix the case laterally with a couple of screws.
Done! Easy, right?

SHORT TRAY FREE POSITIONing

First, we should shorten the case by removing the solid wooden parts while leaving some space to attach the cover.
We install the device on the wood that covers the support with the cavity.
We place it so that the battery is covered by the largest piece of wood.
Once assembled, you should have something that looks like this.

We recommend installing the case in the hive with the opening facing down.

We remind you that we will have to install the piece in order to have the opening downwards.
We can install our wooden case with the device wherever we want, inside the frame or inside the hive.

In this case it was positioned in the lower part of the frame.
